A friend discovered Michael Thomas Boatwright's body Tuesday in his apartment in Uddevalla, a city where he worked as a private tennis coach. Inspector Peter Algersson, a spokesman for the Swedish police, said authorities believe the death was a suicide, and are not investigating it as a crime. Boatwright was 62.
At the beginning of the study, a total of 125 people, or 13 percent of the participants, were diagnosed with depression. At the end of the 17-year follow-up, 164 participants had developed dementia; of those participants, 136 were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
